Grant-giving

The Trustees are able to make grants at their discretion, to help post registration nurses and midwives who are working in the Guildford area, to undergo courses of study and further their professional development.

We can fund:

  • In house training events and lectures
  • Cost of courses leading to specialist qualifications
  • Attendance at conferences and study days

The Trustees are unable to make grants for living expenses, child care or debts.

Accordingly we welcome applications from individuals, or nursing service managers, for funding for course fees or other costs, to enable nurses and midwives in the Guildford area to further their professional education and development. We are particularly keen to fund individuals where the outcomes of their course / study will enhance patient care in the local area. The Ted Adams Trust complies with the GDPR regulations May 2018 – full details available on request.

Making an application

  1. The applicant completes the on-line application form and returns it to Mrs Rosie Stables, Administrator, Ted Adams Trust at tedadamstrust@live.co.uk
  2. The application will be considered by at least two of the Trustees who will either agree the application in principle, or refuse it. This decision will be notified to the applicant.
  3. If funding is confirmed the applicant will be informed when this will become available and the address for forwarding the invoice for the agreed amount. Confirmation of attendance may also be requested.
  4. Funds will normally be paid by electronic transfer.

Feedback

From Jay:

I am very pleased to inform you that I have completed my Post Graduate Diploma for Infection Control and have attended the recently held Spring 2025 Graduation Ceremony. I just want to take this opportunity to thank you and the TED ADAMS TRUST for this incredible opportunity to pursue further education in my field of practice. This would have not been possible without your trust and support.

I shall carry this gift with me with gratitude and purpose.

I have attached a photograph of myself taken during the graduation day.

Kind regards,

From Karen:

Letter of Thanks for Funding Support

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to the Ted Adams Trust for the generous funding I received to undertake the Independent and Supplementary Prescribing Module at the University of West London. The financial support provided, made a significant difference in allowing me to pursue this important area of professional development without the added burden of financial stress. The opportunity to study this module has deepened my clinical knowledge and enhanced my confidence in patient assessment and decision-making, particularly in prescribing for patients with complex palliative care needs. As a nurse working in a Hospice setting and supporting patients in the wider community, the skills and qualifications gained through this module will allow me to respond more quickly and effectively to the needs of those under my care. Timely access to medication is often crucial in improving quality of life, managing symptoms, and ensuring patients can remain at home or in their preferred place of care with dignity and comfort. Going forward, I anticipate using this qualification to expand the prescribing services available within our team, ensuring that patients in the Hospice and across our surrounding communities benefit from a more seamless and responsive care. My goal is to contribute to reducing unnecessary hospital admissions and to support a more person-centred, compassionate approach to care delivery.

Once again, thank you for your support and investment in my professional growth and thank you for believing in the importance of investing in nurses. Your support not only strengthens individual careers; it has a lasting and meaningful impact on the communities we serve. Finally, I am delighted to share that I received my final results yesterday and was awarded a distinction; a testament to the fact that your foundation’s trust and support have truly paid off.

With warmest thanks and sincere appreciation,

Kind regards

Karen Lloyd

From Tracie:

I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to the Ted Adams Trust and the Trustees for supporting my funding applications for my MSc Clinical Leadership in Cancer, End of Life and Palliative Care. This has allowed for Non-Medical Prescribing to be implemented in the Children’s Hospice service and in the home setting, allowing Surrey based Children and families with specialist palliative care needs to access medications more rapidly.

I am also now completing my dissertation and the findings I hope will also benefit children and their families. Without the Ted Adams Trust none of this would have been possible and I am grateful for their support in my professional growth and development. Also, Rosie is fantastic and makes communication so easy. Thank you all so much.
